Gavin is a Principal Engineer at VCS in the UK with over 20 years of experience in cathodic protection (CP) for concrete structures. He holds a BSc(Eng) and MSc(Eng) in Materials Engineering from the University of Cape Town and is an ICorr Level 4 CP Specialist.
He began his career as a Site Engineer on a major bridge rehabilitation project in Southern Africa before relocating to the UK, where he managed CP projects for a specialist contractor across bridges, harbors, and buildings.
For the past 15 years, Gavin has focused on consulting, leading CP designs for a wide range of structures. He is known for his innovative use of impressed current systems on complex elements like half-joints, post-tensioned systems, and deck slabs.
Gavin’s expertise lies in analyzing concrete condition data and developing targeted rehabilitation strategies that extend service life and reduce long-term costs.
